Interpretation

Consecutive interpretation is a sentence-by-sentence, or idea-by-idea, interpretation from one language to another. (The interpreter waits for the speaker to finish a sentence or idea before rendering the information in the target language.) Consecutive interpretation is useful for small meetings and for public presentations to audiences where most people present will need to hear the interpretation. It is also necessary for most events where simultaneous interpretation equipment is not available.

In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter trails behind the speaker by just a second or two, interpreting into the target language without interrupting the speaker. This usually requires specialized equipment with a microphone for the interpreter and earphones for those who are listening to the interpretation. Since this kind of interpretation requires intense concentration, two or more interpreters will be needed for longer events.

Kathy Ogle has twenty years of experience interpreting for public presentations, conferences, private meetings, and travel seminars. Based in Washington D.C., she is available for conferences on human rights, trade, and development, for visitors from Latin America, and for local organizations and projects.

Rates are negotiated on a per-hour or per-day basis. Kathy can also recommend other highly qualified interpreter colleagues for jobs that require more than one interpreter or for times when she is not available. Interpretación

La interpretación consecutiva es una interpretación frase por frase, o idea por idea, donde la intérprete espera hasta que el expositor termine su idea o frase antes de presentarla en el segundo idioma.
